I strongly believe that financial literacy is life-changing because you are able to learn the key skills you need to save money, make money, and build wealth.
This is particularly true if you are currently living paycheck to paycheck and need guidance to get out of this situation.
As you aim to improve your financial life, it’s also very important to surround yourself with the right resources to learn about money whether you are a beginner or more advanced on your financial literacy journey.
This is where this guide comes in – these are some of the 4 excellent finance resources you should be following if you are living paycheck to paycheck. These are a mixture of personal finance blogs, online communities, and books that can revolutionize how you think about money and prepare you to get serious with your financial life.
I Will Teach You to Be Rich by Ramit Sethi
I Will Teach You to Be Rich is by far one of my favourite personal finance resources and I believe you will be empowered after checking out all of Ramit’s offerings.
From his book, I Will Teach You to Be Rich, you will learn the basics of managing your finances in a step-by-step fashion and will be able to improve your debt situation, credit card management skills, and also your banking relationships.
Additionally, Ramit’s community on social media is full of interesting insights on how to live your rich life – a unique perspective that looks at how to actually spend money and not only how to save it.
Ramit is a force to be reckoned with and is extremely outspoken and blunt – this type of honesty and approach might be too direct for some but can be quite comical and engaging for others.
Check out Ramit’s community here and be empowered to live your rich life in a way that is unique to YOU.
The Budgetnista
The Budgetnista is a powerful resource for those who are looking for ways to improve their budgeting and gain information that is centered around building wealth.
Founded by Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche, this resource continues to change lives in many ways with many people paying off debt, buying homes, and getting out of paycheck to paycheck living.
This was one of the resources that I found a few years ago as I bolstered my personal finance knowledge along with my education in business school and it continues to be an excellent personal finance resource today.
Some of the Budgetnista’s resources include the Live Richer Academy, the Live Richer Challenge (which I did a few years ago and is extremely helpful) and her recently released book, “Get Good With Money.”
The community is also very engaged and Tiffany’s occasional Instagram Lives are chock-full of excellent advice on money, business and career.
Napkin Finance
I discovered Napkin Finance a few years ago on the So Money Podcast when the Founder, Tina Hay was interviewed and was blown away by the unique method that they use to communicate personal finance knowledge.
When Tina was in business school, she would occasionally use napkins to break down complex financial terms and this led to the idea of using fun illustrations to explain personal finance topics.
The illustrations are very relatable, quirky and insightful and is particularly helpful if you are a visual learner.
With a book entitled “Napkin Finance“, several courses, infographics, and a newsletter – you are bound to learn so much about money and will walk away with the knowledge you need to make sense of your finances.
The most commanding aspect of Napkin Finance is the ability to break down extremely complex personal finance ideas into a simple form and is highly recommended for those who are beginners.
Napkin Finance is one of my all-time favourites and I highly recommend that you check them out here. They cover topics in investing, debt, economics among other topics.
Clever Girl Finance
Clever Girl Finance is one of the best personal finance communities for those who are seeking to stop living paycheck to paycheck.
It’s mostly geared toward women but men can also learn a lot from the various resources available with topics ranging from saving for a house, ways to save money on food costs as well as practical ways to get out of debt.
Founded by Bola Sokunbi, this excellent finance community offers free courses that will teach you the basics of personal finance along with a podcast, book series and articles that will give you the information you need to build financial literacy.
Clever Girl Finance also has a Youtube Channel if you prefer to digest your information in a video format.
