One of my main goals here at Abundance of Jo is to help people become financially literate. Podcasts are incredibly helpful in making financial literacy accessible and achievable. You can listen to them in the car while driving, on the train or bus, and doing household chores.
I have spent a lot of time listening to financial podcasts. Some have educated me, others have moved me to take action like paying off debt quickly. They continue to be one of my favorite ways to learn about money and to improve my financial life.
Without further ado, these are some of the top financial podcasts that will make you think and inspire you to make changes in your financial life.
CBS Eye on Money Show
This financial podcast is presented by CBS and is hosted by Financial analyst and certified Financial Planner Jill Schlesinger.
Jill is the CBS Finance contributor and is usually featured on CBS Morning on a regular basis discussing various money topics.
This podcast is an extension of her CBS appearances where she takes questions from listeners and helps them to troubleshoot and provide advice.
This financial podcast is amazing because it covers a wide range of money topics and the advice is practical.
Jill is also straightforward, smart, and precise in her approach. You will certainly learn more about money and if you are feeling brave, you can call in with your own questions. Who knows, you can get some answers from Jill.
His and Hers Money
This show was created by husband and wife team, Talaat and Tai McNeely who dish out personal finance content on a weekly basis.
The McNeelys have their own financial triumphs as they have paid off their $330,000 mortgage and $30,000 credit card payments. This process helped led them to start their podcast to share their journey and motivate others to do the same.
They also discuss the importance of mastering money when you are single and in a relationship and what it takes to live a financially abundant life while nurturing your relationship. This is a crucial topic as financial constraints continue to be a major reason for divorce in most marriages.
They also feature interesting guests who have built wealth, paid off debt and are making waves in the personal finance world.
The Money with Katie Show
I first discovered this financial podcast while listening to another podcast, So Money and decided to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised by Katie’s fresh perspective as a thought leader in personal finance.
She is smart, and direct and provides an opinion on personal finance that is both thought-provoking and less gimmicky.
You will be provoked to think about the myriad of financial advice that is available on the web and how that intersects with your actual situation. That’s why I highly recommend her podcast as it will challenge your views and approach to money.
The Money with Katie Show covers so many topics – from choosing careers that will uplevel your skills to wedding confessionals to providing step-by-step guides on all thing money management, you will never be bored with Katie’s content.
The Reith Lectures
If you are into listening to lectures, then this podcast will be right up your alley. Lectures provide a different format for podcasts because they feature one person who provides discourse on a particular topic or series of topics.
With this podcast, you get a front seat to the Reith Lecture that is hosted in England and is produced by BBC radio. Originally started in 1948, the Reith Lectures invites thought leaders to share their ideas on contemporary ideas around the economy, stock market, and the socio-political environment that affects our everyday life.
This lecture series will open up a worldview that will force you to pay attention to the world around you and get the answers to the tough questions you have around why money is so hard to understand.
My favourite lectures include the series that featured Mark Carney who holds the distinction of being the former governor of both the United Kingdom and Canada.
You can find the Reith Lectures here. Please note that this podcast provides education – you will not learn how to save on gas coupons here, instead, you will learn how and why gas prices fuel the economy which is another level of understanding the economy and your finances.
Don’t Keep Your Day Job – Cathy Heller
This might not be a financial podcast per se, however, it hangs between an entrepreneurship and financial podcast because it covers so many money matters.
You will learn how to challenge your money mindset whether you have a scarcity mindset or one of abundance.
Cathy Heller is also inspirational with an amazing story of how she changed careers from being a singer to becoming an entrepreneur who makes millions of dollars in her business ventures.
This podcast is life-changing and will empower you to become more spirited and courageous in your life and your financial life. If you need a motivational boost, you will certainly get what you need from each episode as her guests are very impressive and have done some amazing things.
Be sure to check out the podcast here and watch your life change.
